5 Day Workshop in collaboration with Art Print Residence in beautiful Barcelona

Explore and learn the use of photopolymer printing plates in combination with photography or drawings to create Photogravure etchings. This is a low-toxic approach without the use of solvents, or acids that are traditionally needed for copper plate photogravure.

This workshop will teach you the ‘Direct to Plate’ system. We transfer the image directly on to the plate with the use of an inkjet printer. Plates are then exposed using UV light, processed with water and printed via an etching press.

We do not use transparency films for making plates, which simplifies the process immensely. Giving you more time to make prints!

A 5 day intensive workshop that will give you an insight into the hybridization of digital techniques with the hand made print.

Your skills will build up over the week, starting with simple plate making workflows through to the addition of color with À la poupée, chine-collé and digital color applications.
